Ok, watched My Super Ex-Girlfriend on Friday night. Now, why are blonds always cast as the crazy ex-girlfriend? Seriously. Uma Thurman was a completely neurotic, needy blond in the movie. Makes me cringe. Thank goodness I've never sought revenge like on any of my exs.
Read in the January 2007 Glamour, about a contest of sorts. "In 750 words or less, tell us about an event, encounter or moment in your life when something incredibly important, empowering, humorous, astonishing or inspiring happened to you. How did you come out of it victorious, stronger and wiser?
"Up to three stories will be selected and turned into short films. We'll script, film and screen them for Glamour readers, Hollywood insiders and film enthusiasts."
If you are interested and have an idea go to glamour.com/reelmoments.
Off tonight to celebrate NYE with Charlotte and Debra at Il Fornaio in Del Mar. Should be good for some laughs. All the high-falootin hoighty-toighty del marians should be out in full-force.

Boring day...
I've been so bored this afternoon. I've been trying to read or work on my business plans, but my attention span is naught. I've been trying to think of something fun to write about. Didn't bother with job search today as no one's in the office. Told myself to follow up with the radio station today, but if there is bad news, and I have no way of knowing if there will be bad news, I don't want it before New Years Eve. I'd like to go into the New Year full of optimism. Am I full of optimism? Not really. Working on it.
Went to the gym this am, out at the Mission Valley Mall and I ran into the Club Boy. Club Boy is not exactly a boy. He's close to my age, maybe older, can't remember. But I always see him out at JBar, the W or Airport or someplace like that, with his friend Marcus and he's always buzzed/drunk which makes him talk really fast. Anyway, we had one date back after Dr. Mark, before I had bounced back from that trauma, and well it never went anywhere. Since then I've only seen him when I've been with out a job. He must think I'm a terrible loser. He's cute. He has a history with golf. I know he manages some courses or something, but I think when we were on our date he hinted at something about golf... I don't know. Anyway, he's got a twinkle to his eye. And some very good characteristics... likes to have fun, works out regularly, fit, has long-term tight friendships, likes to travel (and has propositioned me to travel with him), has strong family connections, likes sushi (our first date was sushi) from Chicago, has a good job, owns property, skis and golfs. All-in-all a very rounded guy. I thought to myself, that I should give this guy another chance, if he'd be interested in me. So, I sent him a little note inviting him to join me and my peeps at the Balboa Park Club ballroom dancing sometime. We'll see if he bites. Can't believe I did that. Just yesterday with Skelly, she offered to set me up with a guy and I about had a panic attack thinking about it. Sheesh.
So, the other exciting thing is that my friend DezineGirl has offered to design my logo and business card for Mixed Media Communications! She sent through some designs today. I'm marinating on the one I like the most. I'm so grateful for her help. Anyone need a freelance Graphic Designer? I got a girl for you!
Well, tonight its chili and My Super Ex-Girlfriend. I may try knitting, to keep me busy. Really looking forward to Tuesday, when people are back in the office and I can follow up on some resumes and with Edge of World Retreats. People! Get BACK TO WORK! so I can too!

Thursday Thirteen #1
Ok, today is Thursday Thirteen. In the blogoshpere that's where you make a list of 13 things that will help people learn more about you. I'm going to work on my list of 100 Things that Make Me Happy, which is on the right side bar under my list of 43 Things. A couple of you have expressed concern over me focusing on being happy. For the most part I am. Things are just tough right now. So here goes in particular order...
1. My condo: Owning my condo really makes me proud of myself and I love having my own space that I can change and update anyway I want.
2. My patio: I love my patioscaped patio. I love my lush green plants, and I love the lounge chair in the corner. In the summer time, I like to sit out there and read. One of my favorite places.
3. The color green: The color green makes me happy. I love that spring green of new growth on plants. Did you see the re-make of the movie Great Expectations? Well, the director, Alfonso Cuaron, used the color green in every scene. He said "green is the only color that speaks to me."
4. Stargazer Lillies: I love how bright they look in a vase. I love the intensity of their colors and fragrance. Cheery!
5. Hazelnut Coffee: I make the best coffee. It's delicious and I enjoy sitting at my desk, reading the news on the internet, listening to the planes fly by.
6. Giraffes: I really like giraffes. I know, silly. But thinking back to a recent trip to the zoo , I was so excited to see the giraffes and when we got there I was fascinated by them as I always am. They are so graceful, I love their long necks.
7. Dogs: I really want a dog. It would be so much fun to have a dog and take it to the dog beach and the dog park and have a companion during the weekends, which tend to be long. The girls in Dallas, highly encourage it. If I got a dog, I'd probably get a wired hair dacshund.
8. Chocolate & Peanut Butter ice cream: a simple pleasure. Ben & Jerry's just introduced this as a flavor. The original was Baskin & Robbins 31 Flavors.
9. Tap Dancing: I've been wanting to start tap dancing again. There is just something about making sound with your feet that I just love. I've been a huge fan of Fred Astair and Gene Kelly for as long as I can remember.
10. Ballroom Dancing: Recently, I've started ballroom dancing with some friends at Balboa Park Club on Sunday nights. It's so much fun. You work up a sweat. I always feel great when I walk out of there.
11. San Diego: I really love living in San Diego. Every thing is bright and shiny and green (for the most part). I love being near the water and seeing the mountains in the distance.
12. Living Downtown: It really makes me happy to live in an urban area. I can't imagine living out in Poway or Rancho Bernardo. Seems so far away from the action.
13. Mornings: I'm definitely a morning person. I'm much happier in the morning, optimistic and peaceful. I find in the afternoons and evenings is when I get down or grouchy. I enjoy watching the sun come up, a new day to start, filled with promise.
So, there are the first 13 Things That Make Me Happy. Working on my list of 100 as the following weeks come. It was hard coming up with those. Reminds me to focus on the simple pleasures of life. Cheers, Happy Thursday to you.

Job Update...
So just received the call from B&B that they have made an offer to another candidate for the Director of Corporate Communications position. They left that message to me today and I've not called yet to find out any more details. Not sure what I'm going to. I've so disheartened. I've got a great resume and experience, yet can't seem to get hired to save my life.
Since I've passed my real estate exam I can go do that. But there is a price of entry into real estate and no guarantee of income. Then there is the radio opportunity. I'm not excited about the job. Should I take a job in which there is a high probability of unhappiness(high stress + low self-esteem + sales' bitch = unhapiness) for a guaranteed salary or a job in which I will have the freedom to work as hard as I want for no guaranteed salary but in which I could make a bunch of money on the upside.
Should I move out of my condo. Should I rent it out? I don't think I can cover all my expenses through rent, but I could write that off on my taxes. If I could find a place to live in which my rent was $500 - $1000 I would be saving some money each month. And I still have my HELOC, but I'm just getting further into debt each month. It could take a while to sell it, so I would still have that to cover in the meantime.
What to do, what to do? So bummed. Worst Christmas EVER.

Going Crazy...
So I spent the weekend going a bit crazy, worrying about landing the job I interviewed for last week. Friday I had a bit of a melt-down, worked myself into a tizzy wishing they would just call already. Saturday, hiked Cowles Mountain and watched the movie "The Holiday". I really could identify with Iris and her unrequited love and broken heart.
"I have found almost everything ever written about love to be true. Shakespear said, 'Journeys end in lovers meeting.' What an extraordinary thought." - Iris (Kate Winslet)
Sunday, met Larissa, Heather and Susan at the Four Seasons for a holiday tea get-together. It had been eight months since we'd gotten together. Tea was great. All agreed that the curried egg salad tea sandwich was the best. Yes, the best curried egg salad tea sandwich ever. So great to get together with girls from Gateway. The only person really missing was MM! Fun times!

Theme Song
I just finished the January issue of Real Simple magazine while getting new tires. Out of all 12 issues that I've received over the year, the article about finding your theme song really hit a note with me. Over the last seven months, I've often needed a theme song to help me with my confidence. Often I've repeated the mantra, "Easy, Breezy, Cover Girl!" to help give me a boost. It works!
But now I've identified my theme song: "One" from "A Chorus Line". I remember singing this soundtrack when my mom got it on 8 track back in the 80's. I fancied myself a dancer back then and loved this song.
"One singular sensation
Every little step she takes.
One thrilling combination
Every move that she makes.
One smile and suddenly nobody else will do;
You know you'll never be lonely with you know who.
One moment in her presence
And you can forget the rest.
For the girl is second best
To none,
Son.
Ooooh! Sigh! Give her your attention.
Do...I...really have to mention?
She's the...
She's the...
She's the...
One!"
I'll remember these lines the next time I have an interview, important meeting or have to walk into a room or the pool area, populated with unknown or unfriendly folks.

Flat Tire
Ugg, yesterday big interview. Hopefully final interview for a long while. Met with eight people from this firm. Two at a time for 30 minutes each. The interview went well for the most part. Spent a good two hours this am writing personal emails for all I interviewed with. I used Netvibes to develop some additional content for my emails including sharing info about Web 2.0 and the book written by Tim O'Reilly: "Why Web 2.0 Matters and How You Can Make the Most of It".
On my way to the interview, thinking about my car and how I needed to get my oil changed and tires rotated and wouldn't you guess it, but got a flat tire a quarter mile from the location of the interview, 20 minutes before it was scheduled to start. I just drove it to the parking lot, called triple A and scheduled an appointment for them to come out and change the tire. Walked into the interview and tried not to think about it. So glad that the tire didn't blow out on the highway and waited until I was close to the building.
On my way now to get the tire plugged.

Wine Dinner
So, spent yesterday shopping with Stephanie in from Dallas. Hit Forth & Towne out at Otay Ranch Town Centre out in Chula Vista. Then Banana Republic. Finally Bloomingdales at Fashion Valley. Fun times. She brought my fabulous birthday gifts. A fantastic ring from Cuba; a red top, perfect for the holiday party going to on Friday and stemless wine glasses and gift card. Very generous! So grateful for her friendship and support. She is so much fun and we just fall into laughs and good times like no time has passed.
Today, hung out, puttered around, worked out and got ready for the Uncorked wine event. Great food, great wine. The wines were from the Michel-Schlumberger Vineyard and included the Pinot Blanc, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon (YUMMM). The food was fantastic, so stuffed. Great to hang out with Cathy and Debra. Kristin was to have joined us but due to family obligations had to bail. Because of that, this guy Bill, came over and asked permission to join us. Cathy was soooo great talking to him, but for me, NOT interested. Too, something.
Tomorrow preping for my interview on Wednesday.

Ok, gonna start blogging. Seems like funny things happen around me so you might be amused, then again, you might not.
Spent yesterday cleaning, didn't really get a great workout in. But went to Aquillino's office, AcuSport Health Center, to help him plan and market a Golf Singles event. So far, figured out that the first one will be on Wednesday, February 14. Seems appropriate. More details to come.
Today, great friend Stephanie L-Z flies in from Dallas and we're off to shop and eat.
